Earth Day 2023 - Think Before Following Another Trend

                 Few days ago, it was Earth Day!!! Horayyyyy!!! 🎉🎉

No much to celebrate though, seeing what we are doing to Mother Nature!!!

It's more like a reminder to be kinder and more respectful!!!

                                        BUT...

How many of us have shared an #savetheplanet 📱💻or used one of those icons Instagram had on the GIF, just because it's cool or to get more followers and likes👍, while buying new clothings that we are going to wear only once and ending up in a landfill?! Or switching the lights off when leaving the room?! Or throwing away less food or eating more vegetables and turning the tap off while brushing our teeth?!

                          I am sure A LOT!!!

How many of us have actually taken a minute to think about any of those things before hitting the share button on our phone or keyboard!!!

                                                "It's another trending Hashtag, let's be part of the community, I don't know what that is, but everyone is posting about, so why not?!"

"After all it's only today Earth Day, tomorrow I will use my washing machine or dishwasher half full again!!!"

"I will start recycling from tomorrow!!!"

"The exhausted batteries?? Put them all together in the same rubbish bag, they won't do any harm, it's only 2 of them!!"

No, I am not reading your minds, but that's what we are all thinking. So multiply that by... I don't know... Let say... roughly... Billions of People?!🧮➕❌➗❓❓

It's not only 2 batteries anymore🔋, it's not only few gallons of water anymore.💧

It's much more... So much more TO LOOSE...💥

Big like an entire planet!!! 🌍🌎🌏

So: Think, Before Following Another Trend!!!

Microplastic: From the Highest to the Deepest Place

Plastic has become a huge problem!!! Microplastic were already found on the Everest Mount, the roof of the world!!! 🗻

And while you are thinking: "it got everywhere and we reached the bottom...", well.. nope!! Not really!!

In fact it has been found in the Marianas Trench, the deepest place on Earth!!! 😰😰😰

Now we can say: "WE HAVE REACHED THE BOTTOM!!!" 😓😓

And we shouldn't!!!

According to James Lovelock's Theory: Gaia (Earth) works like a self-regulating system, so in my opinion the planet is overloaded by this material (which takes 450 years to decompose) and it's trying to find a way to distribute it everywhere else. 

It's like getting fat and your body, already in bad shape, trying to move it to your ears or toes because the other places are already full.

Sounds funny, but that's what I think is happening!! 🙈🙈

Now, the question here is: what shall we do??? And why we are not doing it???

Internet is already filled with to do/task lists about how and why recycle plastic items, where to dispose them, reuse it many times and choosing other materials instead.

So why we are not improving they are only few simple actions? 😥

End of Summer

 I am in my flat and outside it's raining...

All the sudden I get memories of when I was a child/teenager, going to the sea with my mum and siblings.

In Italy there is a national holiday called "Ferragosto" on the 15th of August, which is considered the hottest day of Summer.

People celebrate it by spending the entire day at the beach with the whole family, eating and playing, or by going up to the mountains and having a barbecue.

During the Ferragosto week most of the people from North of Italy come to the South to pass by the holidays with their families by the sea and get tanned, after all the sun's benefits are countless.

That makes beaches, shops and streets really crowded, which is something we were not used to.

Few days after everyone is gone, everything is back the way it was before and all the sudden, us kids feel Summer is going to end, even if there are still a couple of weeks left in August and, why not, even in September. But all is left is a bitter emptiness feeling: you know sooner or later you will get back to school and the days will turn into cloudy rainy and eventually cold.

And in a such blink of eye you are at the shop pushing a trolley full of pens, pencils, diaries and notebooks.

...and I get back to this my flat, alone, still saviouring that vivid feeling  my memory gifted me with..

Sometimes time seems only wrapping into itself and even if you are on an upper layer, by just turning your head you can see your past, even touch it, almost you are standing right there next to the youngest yourself and watching like in a black and white movie.

Chocolate Eggs

It's #Easter week!!! 🌈

The #chocolateegg is the most popular Easter gift!! 

Colorful and deliciously chocolately to remind Spring has finally bloomed!!

But what's the origin of this yummy tradition?

It all started in Egypt: the chicken egg, for it's important food properties, was considered a symbol where all the 4 elements were reunited.

According to the Romans, Spring is when the nature is reborn after the long cold season and the chicken egg represents the life's rebirth, that's why they were painting with leaves and onion skins and exchanging them.

For the Christians it was the same theory: the chick hatches out alive from the egg like Jesus did from his tomb.

But the actual chocolate egg tradition started during the Middle Ages, while in the 18th century in Russia, a matrioska egg was invented, that gave the idea to put a surprise inside.

... And voilà!!! 

That's how the modern 

Chocolate Easter Egg was born!!!

International World Water Day

During these past days we heard talking a lot about the International #worldwaterday, but why water is so important?

Even if humans are terrestrial living being, before we are born we live in a liquid environment, our body is formed by 70% of water, in fact we are  always recommended to drink at least 2 litres of water per day, to allow our organs working properly. 🍹

Lately we have sent a rover to #Mars and guess what we are looking for? WATER!!! It's the only way to demonstrate the planet was #habitable, as that's how life began on Earth!! 🌍

The biggest civilizations started around important rivers, the first commercial exchanges were done via sea. ⛵

Also who doesn't like to spend a day in a spa🛀 or a swimming pool 🏊 to feel relaxed and reborn, and what about the calming effects of the marine landscapes on the human brain. 🌊

The relationship humans-water is very ancient, but nowadays we use it as it's a spendable good and not a precious one!!

We always consider the water pollution someone else's problem, instead we need to act!!!

By acting I mean taking these little precautions!!

1) Turn the tap off while brushing your teeth, even better if you use a glass to rinse your mouth.

2) Prefer showers instead of bath, if taking a bath don't refill it too much.

3) Wash your car in a self-service or if you wash it yourself turn the tap on only when you need to rinse it up.

4) Water your plants only in the morning and evening so the water doesn't evaporate before reaching the roots.

5) Use the dishwasher and the washing machine only fully loaded.

My First Travel to London

It seems yesterday when I first left to go to London, instead it has already been 6 years. It feels like those years have been reset: again I am looking for a job (with low results 🙀), my phone number 📱has been deactivated, which means as soon as I get back I need to buy a new one.😵

I have to kind of start over again.

I still remember the feeling when I jumped on that 🚁airplaine: full of hope and fear. 😋 😂

I had never felt those emotions, but in that moment I truly understood what was going on inside Rapunzel's head when left the tower. 😂😂😂

I am not only talking about the sense of freedom (especially because it wasn't my first time far from home) but it was a mix of excitement 😎💃for being in an adventure bigger than me and at the same time realizing that I was in an adventure bigger than me!!!😨😨

It was pretty much something like this!! 😹😹

Passengers

An interstellar adventure that will make you breathless.

(Be aware possible spoilers)

Classic spaceship with ibernated passengers and crew onboard, travelling towards a new world, a new planet, a new galaxy, a new life, a new beginning. 

At some point something goes wrong (obviously otherwise there wouldn't be a movie😆).  Everything looks like too foregone, except for a little thing, which makes this movie different from the other science fiction films: A decision!!! A life change decision!!!

Too selfish? Too lonely? The end justifies the means?

Did he do right? Did he do wrong?

What do you think about it?

Would you have made the same decision?

I think it's really hard to judge from an external point of view, I mean: to really know how it feels, we should be in the same situation, so we can just do some speculations about it.

An other focal point is the Capitan's last words: "Take care of each other!!". For sure he meant life is too short and you are lucky to have each other, so stop worrying about what could have been and focus on the present!!!

It's the same quote the android Arthur gives to Jim at the beginning and Aurore repeats at the very end as conclusion of the movie!!!

Unfortunately, most of the times we don't understand how much something is important for us until we lose it and want it back!!!

It's only then that we start to appreciate our gift, our PRESENT!!!

I have to say this film made me thinking about the importance of life, love, valuate the present moment and accept your plans changing; it's worth watching it, not only for the special effects but for the meaning itself.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Enjoyed their music, their lives, their passion, their friendship, their songs, their way to involve people making them part of the stage, their positive vibes!!! So fascinating!!!
For all of these reasons they became so famous and so loved by every generation!!!

I highly recommend to watch it!!!

At the end of the movie the whole audience was clapping in tears!!!

For me, one of the best movie of the year!!!
